About Self Driven Hockey
We're a group of students in Ottawa who believe that hockey should be accessible to every child — no matter where they come from, what their family can afford, or what challenges they face.
Our Story
Self Driven Hockey was born from a simple observation: many children in Ottawa's diverse communities were being left out of Canada's most beloved sport. The cost of equipment, ice time, and registration fees created barriers that kept kids on the sidelines.
Founded and run entirely by high school students, our organization took action. We started organizing free training sessions, collecting equipment donations, and raising funds to help families in need. We also partnered with adaptive hockey organizations to ensure children with disabilities could experience the thrill of the game.
Today, we've grown into a vibrant community of student volunteers, families, and supporters all united by a single belief: every child deserves a chance to play.
All proceeds from our fundraising activities are donated directly to financially needy families and hockey organizations serving children with disabilities. We are proud to be 100% volunteer-run with zero overhead — every dollar goes to the kids.
